She tells Vogue magazine, "I started crying. I didn't think I'd get to experience that in my lifetime.

"To feel life growing with you is something very, very special, and I'm going to embrace that completely.

A daughter of the revolution

Castro's kid to help out with 'Crash'-style movie on Cuba

Writer-producer Bobby Moresco, who won an Oscar for co-writing "Crash," is teaming with Austin-based Artists Relations Group to bring to the big screen the story of Alina Fernandez, the only daughter of Cuban leader Fidel Castro.

Moresco, who might also direct the project, will produce via his Moresco Prods. shingle. John Martinez and Noel Tristan produce for ARG.

Fernandez, a product of an affair while Castro was married to his first wife, spent her childhood in the country's shadow, only learning at age 10 that the man who visited her at night and whom she saw on TV every day was her father. In 1993, Fernandez disguised herself as a Spanish tourist and fled first to Spain, then to the U.S., where she has been living in exile ever since. Fernandez is recognized worldwide as one of the most outspoken of Castro's relatives.

The producers are not planning to do a biopic or a simple escape story but are envisioning a multiplot story a la "Crash" that will show the Cuban and American perspectives and ideologies along with Fernandez's story. The project also will be seek inspiration from her memoir.

"For the last 20 years, I have been trying to show what is going in my country, trying to make people be a little more aware of how glorious we are and how many limitations we have," Fernandez told The Hollywood Reporter. "We are your neighbors, yet you know so little about us. It's going to be a good opportunity to show (audiences)."

Fernandez will be involved in the film as a story consultant as well as with media relations for the project.

Financing for development was provided by the Lamy Group. The project is out to writers.

Sammy Hagar - Hagar Forms Supergroup With Smith Anthony Satriani

SAMMY HAGAR, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer CHAD SMITH, guitar legend JOE SATRIANI and former VAN HALEN bass player MICHAEL ANTHONY have formed a new supergroup.

The trio plans to record a new album under the name Chickenfoot.

Smith tells ThePulseofRadio.com he became involved in the project simply because he's a neighbour of Hagar's in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

He says, "If you're in Cabo, of course you know Sammy 'cause he rules the joint.

"He's a really nice man, he's a great guy actually. Somehow he's taken a liking to me, and we played in Vegas, and we played some cover songs - we're a good cover band now.

"Him and Joe got together up at his place and they wrote, like, five things together, and we'll see."

Hagar adds, "We've written eight, nine songs... When people hear the music, it's Led Zeppelin. It's as good as that. I know that's a mighty bold statement... We could rival Zep!"

Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie pays tribute to Bo Diddley

Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie has hailed the late Bo Diddley, who died of heart failure on Monday (June 2).

The singer explained that he was a huge fan of the legendary guitarist, and said that his style went on to influence many subsequent axemen.

"I heard The Rolling Stones play [ song] 'Not Fade Away', which used the Bo Diddley beat," he said. "Then when I heard Bo Diddley himself, I thought, oh, amazing, it comes from that. It's pretty hard to pull that beat off. Johnny Marr's guitar playing is Johnny Marr being Bo Diddley.

"I love those Chess records he made: 'Who Do You Love?', 'Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover'. I've got footage of him playing live in the '60s, it's amazing."
